Sean joins the Bobcats staff as Director of Player Development for the boys program. Coach Connolly brings over 17 years of coaching and playing experience to the Bobcats. Sean attended Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, MA from 1994-1998. While a member of the Crusaders, Connolly became the all time leading scorer in North Shore history scoring 2,473 points. This also placed Sean fourth on the all-time leading scorers list in Massachusetts basketball history. During his career, he posted an average of 28.4 points per game and led his team to an amazing 77-10 record in games he played, including a 47 game Catholic Central League winning streak. Sean set the school record for 3-pointers made (13) and points scored (56) in a game against Savio Prep on January 21, 1997.
After finishing his remarkable career at Bishop Fenwick High School, Sean went on to play collegiately at Providence College. During his freshman season, Connolly started all 30 games for the Friars averaging 26.2 minutes and 11 points per game. Sean was selected to the Big East all rookie team for the 1998-1999 season. In 1999, Sean transferred to The Ohio State University and played the remainder of his college career for the Buckeyes. While at Ohio State, Sean led his team to three NCAA tournament appearances. During his senior season, Connolly ranked 5th in the Big Ten Conference shooting 55.7% from behind the three point arc. Sean finished his collegiate career with over 1,000 points.
Coach Connolly is currently the Head Varsity boys basketball coach at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA. This past season, Sean led his team to the Division I State Championship. Connolly coached St. John’s Prep baseball and basketball standout, Pat Connaughton, who is heading to Notre Dame on a basketball scholarship this fall. Before St. John’s Prep, Sean was Varsity Head Coach at his almamater, Bishop Fenwick, for four seasons. Coach Connolly has earned Coach of the Year honors in 3 out of the last 5 seasons.
Sean is taking on the role of Director of Player Development on the boys side of the program for the Bobcats. He will be in charge of individual player development, which will consist of both individual and group training. Coach Connolly will also conduct clinics throughout the year to help players keep their skills sharp and prepare for their upcoming seasons.
